Important Update on Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism
We're reaching out to share some important changes related to attendance and chronic absenteeism due to the recently passed legislation, Senate File 2435. This law addresses several educational issues, including chronic absenteeism and attendance requirements.
Under this new legislation, chronic absenteeism is defined as missing more than 10% of the days in a grading period. Our district is now required to define chronic absenteeism, adopt a policy to address attendance, and implement a plan to support families of students who are chronically absent.
We understand there are many factors that can cause a student to miss school, and we want you to know that we’re here to help. Your child’s success is important to us, and being present at school is a key part of that success.
