Opportunity Scholarships The Scholarship Program was created to guide students through the college planning process and reward the effort they put into preparing for college. The Scholarship Program is open to juniors and seniors in high school, who meet all eligibility requirements stated, and encourages them to complete six key college planning steps. Students selected to receive scholarship funds (“Winners”) must indicate a Title IV eligible institution (“Institution”) for disbursement by Sponsor. There is a total of seven scholarships to be awarded. By completing each of the six college planning steps, students become eligible for the scholarship associated with that step. Students who complete all six steps are automatically eligible for the seventh Complete Your Journey scholarship.

Access Energy(Due March 15, 2024) Recipients must be a high school senior receiving post-secondary education. Recipient’s parents or legal guardians must be members of the cooperative.
Ag Coop Safety Directors of Iowa Scholarship (Due April 15, 2024) Complete Scholarship application. Professional resume (include at a minimum): High School(s) attended with current cumulative GPA, extracurricular activities/club involvement, leadership experience, and work experience. Maximum 1000-word essay on "What does Agricultural Safety mean to you? One (1) signed letter of recommendation from a non-family member. Information must be submitted in PDF format to ACSDIAScholarship@gmail.com by 4:00 p.m. on April 28. 2023.
Alliant Energy (Due February 15, 2024) To be eligible, scholarship applicants must have participated in a leadership role in community service work or volunteer activities. They must also meet the following criteria: Be age 24 or under; Be a dependent child of a current customer, or be a current customer, of one of Alliant Energy's utility subsidiaries. Have a cumulative high school grade point average between 2.50 and 4.00. Emphasis will be placed on community service leadership activities. Reside within the Alliant Energy service territory at the time of application; and plan to enroll in, for the first time, beginning in the fall, a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two- or four-year college or university, or vocational-technical school located within the Alliant Energy service territory.
American Welder Scholarship The AWS Welder Training Scholarship is for students seeking welder training in a certificate program less than two years in length through a trade school, community college, or other facility providing welder training. The scholarship cannot be used towards an associates or bachelor's degree program. In 2023, up to 800 - $1,000 Welder Training Scholarships will be awarded.
Ann Griffel Scholarship (Due March 31, 2024) The IGAF awards $2,000 Ann Griffel Scholarships to Iowa high school senior girls who intend to further their education at an Iowa institution of higher learning, whether a college, university or trade school. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities, not on golf accomplishments or ability. Scholarships are awarded and recipients are selected solely based on the items submitted with this application. As a condition of accepting the scholarship, recipients must attend the Scholarship Awards Banquet on Friday, August 6, 2021 (DSM Area).
Army ROTC National Scholarship Requirements: Be a U.S. citizen. Be between the ages of 17 and 26. Have a high school GPA of at least 2.50. Have a high school diploma or equivalent. Score a minimum of 1000 on the SAT (math/verbal) or 19 on the ACT (excluding the required writing test scores). Meet physical standards. Agree to accept a commission and serve in the Army on Active Duty or in a Reserve Component (Army Reserve or Army National Guard).
Aureon Scholarship Program (Due March 1, 2024) Must live in a home with active phone, internet, or TV from an Iowa ITC. Iowa high school junior or graduating senior in the 2020-2021 school year. A citizen or permanent resident of the United States or one of its official territories. Accepted and plan to enroll at an Iowa-based, accredited four-year college or university, community college, or vocational-technical school and be pursuing a STEM–related course of study.(science, technology, engineering, or mathematics). Have a minimum 3.33 GPA. A copy of a recent transcript may be requested.
Beer-Barker Post #113 (Due April 15, 2024)- Return to Ms. Thomas in the library) H.S. Senior from Van Buren County Community Schools. Special consideration to students with veterans in their family. Financial Need. Character School activities. Community activities. Personal activities. Enroll at accredited institution of higher learning(Tech School, Junior College or Four Year College). *Preference will be given to Boys and Girls State attendees.
Better Business Bureau Education Foundation Scholarship (Due January 12, 2024) All applicants must be recommended by a school official. Only one application per school will be accepted. Applicant must be a high school senior scheduled to graduate in 2021. A student who personify sound ethical behavior and decision making in their leadership roles at school and in their community. Student honorees are selected by a panel of judges to receive a $2,500 scholarship paid to the school/college of their choice. The scholarships will be presented in conjunction with the BBB Torch Awards for Ethics, which are given to companies that demonstrate exemplary business practices. Applicant must be from BBB Serving Greater Iowa, Quad City and Siouxland Region service area.
Bob Galloway Memorial Scholarship (Due April 19, 2024) Priority to student preparing for a career in education. H.S. Senior from Van Buren County CSD. Involved in school and community activities. Minimum GPA of 2.5. Student must be enrolled in a community or 4-year college. Scholarship must be used for tuition.
Breckenridge Scholarship (Due April 19, 2024 - Return to Ms. Thomas in the library) CRITERIA : H.S. Senior from Van Buren Community High School, Financial Need, Character, school activities, community activities, personal activities,Minimum G.P.A. of 2.5. Enroll at accredited institution of higher learning (Tech School, Junior College or Liberal Arts) Scholarship may be used for tuition, fees, books, room and board.
Brian Pearson Memorial Scholarship (Due April 1, 2024) High school junior or seniors for the school year who have previously participated in any Iowa Games events (Summer Iowa Games, Winter Iowa Games, Iowa Games Net Fest, Iowa Games NASP, etc) are eligible for this scholarship.
Caleb Strait Memorial Scholarship (Due April 15, 2024 Return to Ms. Thomas in the library) There will be TWO $300 scholarships given to the 2024 class.
Children of Warriors National Presidents' Scholarship (Due March 1, 2024) Candidates for this award shall be daughters, sons, grandsons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, or great-grandsons of veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion: April 6, 1917, to November 11, 1918; and any time after December 7, 1941. Applicants must be in their senior year of high school. This is a scholarship to attend an accredited institution of higher education. Applicant must complete 50 hours of volunteer service within the community during their high school years. Hours must be verified in writing by the recipient organization(s).
Community 1st Credit Union (Due February 14, 2024 3:00 p.m. CST) Eligibility requirements: Current, active members of Community 1st Credit Union. High school seniors who plan to enroll in a full-time course of study at an accredited two-or-four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire academic year. Non-traditional* student enrolling for the first time or returning to complete an interrupted degree as a part-time or full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two-or-four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the entire academic year. Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale (or its equivalent). Children of employees are eligible to apply and must meet the above eligibility requirements. Non-traditional students are defined as students who do not attend college immediately after high school graduation.
Conservation Districts of Iowa (Due February 9, 2024) CDI is partnering with local Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCD) to foster the higher education endeavors of Iowa students interested in conservation and agriculture by offering scholarships. Iowa High School seniors pursuing programs of study in any field of conservation or agriculture qualifies for the Conservation Scholarship. While this is a wide field and many studies qualify, preference will be given to students pursuing programs of study in conservation. The scholarship must be used for the student’s first year of college education.
Elevate Advanced Manufacturing Scholarship (Due July 15, 2024) Elevate Advanced Manufacturing promotes great careers in advanced manufacturing. In 2021, Elevate is offering (15) $500 scholarships to Iowa high school seniors interested in studying a manufacturing-related career at one of Iowa’s 15 Community Colleges – one award will be given per college region. Scholarship recipients are required to attend the Legends in Manufacturing Dinner at no cost in the fall of 2021. The event will be held in Altoona, Iowa.
Elks National Foundation Scholarship (Due November 13, 2023)Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need.Current high school seniors, or the equivalent, who are citizens of the United States are eligible to apply. Applicants do not need to be related to a member of the Elks. High school graduates are not eligible to apply. Male and female students compete separately.
Applicants must be citizens of the United States on the date their applications are submitted; permanent legal resident status does not qualify.
ERIC S. WATERMAN SCHOLARSHIP (Due May 30, 2024)Only sons and daughters of members (or deceased members who were in good standing at the time of their death) of the International Association of Bridge, Structural, Ornamental and Reinforcing Iron Workers, who are currently in their senior year of high school, are eligible. Applicant must be a child, stepchild, adopted child, or court-appointed custodial child of a member of the International Association who is an active member with five or more years of continuous service at the time of their child’s application unless the member is deceased and was in good standing at the time of death. Grandchildren are not eligible to apply, except in the case of court-appointed custodial grandparents. Applicant shall submit a completed application within the specified deadline. An extension of the due date will be at the discretion of the scholarship committee. Applicants should rank in the upper half of his or her graduating class. Scholarship awards are competitive and will be based on: Academic standing of the student during his or her four years in high school. U.S. students only: College entrance examination scores (SAT or ACT) – if applicable. Extracurricular activities and leadership. Character references and citizenship.
FAIRFIELD ELKS LODGE #1192 CHARITABLE TRUST EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (Due March 1, 2024) Two scholarships in the amount of $1500.00 each will be awarded to members of the graduating class to assist in furthering his/her education beyond high school for the year following graduation at an accredited post high school institute.
Iowa State Elks Association Legacy Awards (Due February 5, 2024) Any prospective student (male or female), residing within the jurisdiction of a B.P.O. Elks Lodge belonging to the Iowa State Elks Association (iowaelks.org) who plans to pursue an eligible educational program above and supplemental to high school or preparatory school level, may file an application. All applicants must be citizens of the United States of America on the date the application is filed. This application must be filed with the Lodge Scholarship Chairman, Exalted Ruler, or Secretary of the B.P.O. Elks Lodge having jurisdiction in the area in which the student has legal residence, on or before March 8, 2021. Only one application may be filed and must be filed with the Lodge of Jurisdiction. No applicant may receive more than one (1) Iowa State Elks Association Grant in any one year.
Farm Kids for College Scholarship (Due February 20, 2024)To be eligible for the National Farmers Farm Kids for College Scholarship, you must: Be a high school senior in the U.S. Major in an agricultural field at an accredited college or university. In addition to the two-page application, please send: Typed essays, listed below. Two letters of reference. Official high school transcript, and official GPA. Official ACT or SAT score. A recent photo for use in future scholarship promotions, member publications, social media and on our web site, nationalfarmers.com
First Friday Breakfast Club (Due March 15, 2024) FFBC awards annual scholarships to outstanding Iowa high seniors who fight homophobia and educate their schools and/or communities about lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ) issues. Academic excellence, extracurricular activities and community involvement also factor into the awards. The scholarships are $3,000 each. The number of awards varies each year based on the number and quality of applicants and the funds available. Applicants must be Iowa residents and plan to pursue post-secondary education. There is no restriction on the type or location of the institution where post-secondary education is obtained. Scholarships are awarded without regard to sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, transgender status, race, religion, marital status or employment status of the prospective recipient.
FFA Scholarship - non-members may also apply! (Due January 12, 2024)Through the National FFA Foundation, businesses and individuals support scholarships that are awarded to students with a wide variety of higher education plans and career goals. Scholarships support non-FFA and FFA high school seniors and collegiate members .Just one application is required for multiple opportunities!
Foundation for Rural Service Scholarship (Due February 16,2024) Each applicant must: Be a graduating high school senior. Be a United States citizen. Be sponsored by a current NTCA–The Rural Broadband Association member. Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school. Have at least a C grade point average (GPA). Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation.Transcript (7 Semesters). 500-800 Word Essay. Two Letters of Recommendation
Grand Lodge of Iowa (Postmarked February 1, 2024) The principal criterion is service to school and community with special emphasis upon leadership roles in these areas. The Grand Lodge of Iowa is looking for those students who exhibit the greatest potential to be not only of service to their communities in the future but also leaders in these communities. An applicant’s academic record, communication skills, and need for financial assistance are also carefully considered as is an evaluation of the applicant by a school official. The organization, appearance, and completeness of the application are also factors considered by the selection committee. Applicants need not have a Masonic connection, nor do race, creed, religion, color, sex, or national origin have any bearing in the selection process.
Grand Lodge of Iowa Technical School Scholarship (Postmarked February 1, 2024) Scholarships will be awarded to a number of graduating Iowa high school seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College. The scholarship may be used for any bona fide school related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and tools. Race, creed, religion, color, sex, or national origin have no bearing in the selection process. A Masonic connection is preferred, but not required.
Hagan Scholarship (Due December 1, 2023) Must be a U.S. Citizen. Must attend an Eligible Public High School. Must have achieved a 3.50 Cumulative Grade Point Average. Must enroll at an Eligible Four-Year College or University the first semester following high school graduation. Must work 240 hours during the twelve months prior to fall semester college enrollment. Preferred employment is regularly scheduled non-family employment performed under supervision for compensation. Must provide the FAFSA SAR showing the EFC. Must be Pell Grant eligible. The family EFC does not have to be paid, it is used only to determine award amounts. Must apply for Federal and State grants if eligible. Must not have a felony conviction
Herman Sani Scholarship (Due March 31, 2024) Any graduating high school senior and resident of the State of Iowa with experience or background in golf is eligible to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on academic performance, extracurricular activities and leadership qualities, not on golf accomplishments or ability. Scholarships are awarded and recipients are selected solely on the basis of the written application. As a condition of accepting the scholarship, recipients must attend the Scholarship Awards Banquet on Friday, August 6, 2021 (DSM Area).
Horatio Alger Association Scholarship (Due March 15, 2024) Eligibility: Be enrolled full time as a high school senior in the United States; be progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2024 with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation. Exhibit a strong commitment to pursue and complete a bachelor’s degree at an accredited non-profit public or private institution in the United States (students may start their studies at a two-year institution and then transfer to a four-year institution). Demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income is required). Be involved in co-curricular and community service activities. Display integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity. Maintain a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0; and be a United States citizen.
Hy-Vee Tuition Assistance Program Hy-Vee has created a new tuition assistance program exclusively for Hy-Vee employees and families that includes: Up to $10,500 per year for select full-time and regular-time employees who are pursuing a Hy-Vee approved degree of study. Up to $3,500 per year for all employees, regardless of the degree studied. Up to $2,500 per year for immediate family members of employees, regardless of the degree studied. These tuition assistance amounts are available annually, which means each year you are enrolled at Bellevue University as a full-time, degree-seeking student.
Illowa Sheet Metal Workers-JATC (Due February 29, 2024) We are now seeking apprentice applicants in the following fields: Industrial Sheet Metal and Welding, HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning), HVAC Service Tech. (Service and Repair), Architectural Sheet Metal. Personal Requirements, Good communication skills, Drive, determination and willingness to learn, High School Diploma or GED, Above average mechanical and math skills, Good hand-eye coordination, form perception and manual dexterity, Dependable, with the ability to accept responsibility and work in a team environment. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the apprenticeship. Online application must be complete. All applicants must be high school graduates or equivalent. All applicants must provide the Training Committee with a copy of their high school transcripts or GED certificate. These materials must be received at the Rock Island address no later than February 29, 2024.
International Association of Arson Investigators IOWA CHAPTER Reynold C. Hentges Memorial Scholarship (Due March 30, 2024) Applicants must be a resident of Iowa and have been accepted to or enrolled as either an online or resident student in a nationally or regionally accredited college, university or vocational/technical school. Applicants must major in a field of education promoting a career in one of the following professions or area of study: Fire Service, Fire Science, Law Enforcement, Law, Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Protection Technology or Insurance. Previous scholarship recipients may reapply.
Iowa Association of Municipal Utilities Scholarship (Due February 23, 2024)To be eligible for consideration candidates must: Live in a residence that is a verified customer of an IAMU member or attend a high school that is a verified customer of an IAM member. The City of Keosauqua is an IAMU member. Be a 2021 graduating high school senior or have previously graduated from high school. Be attending a post high school education program located in Iowa in the fall of 2022. Preference will be given to those applicants entering a utility related career with a special preference to applicants entering utility related trades programs leading to careers in those difficult to fill utility careers such as, as an example only, electric line worker, water treatment or distribution operator, or operator qualified natural gas positions.
Iowa Automobile Dealers Foundation for Education (Due March 1, 2024) Applicants must be committed to the pursuit of automotive-related studies, such as technician training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicle sales, parts sales, accounting, or business administration shop. An applicant’s interest and commitment to the automotive industry will be measured by their enrollment in automotive studies, being a current or prior employee of a dealership, or demonstrating a personal interest in automobiles. Preference will be given to applicants who plan to attend an Iowa college or university. Scholarships may be awarded, in part, on financial need. Prior scholarship recipients who have 2.5 GPA may re-apply.
Iowa Association of Building Officials-ICBO Scholarship (Due May 1,2024) Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements: Iowa residency, Iowa High School diploma or GED. Admittance to a program on the list. One 4-year program student will receive $2000.00. One 2-year program student will receive $1000.00.
Iowa Cheerleading Coaches' Association (Postmarked February 15, 2023) Include completed basic application form. It MUST HAVE coach’s signature. One-year, non-renewable scholarships, in the amount of $500, will be awarded to graduating cheerleaders in the Class of the current graduation year. Applicant’s coach must be a present member of the ICCA. Applicant must have a cumulative 3.5 grade point average or above by the end of his/her junior year (DO NOT round up to 3.5). Applicant must follow all scholarship guidelines. Complete all information on white paper using dark print. Coaches should mail all application materials in ONE PACKAGE postmarked by February 15,2022.
The Iowa Communications Alliance (Due March 3, 2023) Applicants must satisfy all of the following: Be a graduating high school senior. Be accepted by or be enrolled in an accredited two or four-year college/university or vocational school. Receive any qualifying service from an Iowa Communications Alliance service provider member and be from a rural area. Have a least a 3.5 on a 4.0 scale or 4.5 on a 5.0 scale for a cumulative grade point average. Express an interest to live and work in a rural community following graduation. Be sponsored by your local telecommunications service provider (contact your provider to determine if the are a member). Children of Iowa Communications Alliance member employees are not eligible for the general scholarship but are eligible for Member Employee Scholarship. In addition to this application, the student must also apply for acceptance to DMACC.
Iowa Corn Growers Association (Due January 31, 2024) The Iowa Corn scholarship and National Corn Growers Association scholarship applications are combined this year for the first time. Students only need to fill out one application to be eligible for both. Applicant must be an Iowa Corn Growers Association member or son/daughter of an ICGA member. Apply for ICGA membership at https://www.iowacorn.org/membership/join-icga/ Eighteen total scholarships will be awarded to deserving, qualified students enrolled at an accredited U.S. 2-year or 4-year junior college, college or university, or graduate school, in a program of study that can equip the student to contribute to the agriculture industry in Iowa. Nine $1,000 “First-year Scholarships” are reserved for high school seniors entering their first year of college, one from each Iowa Corn District Field Manager territory. Nine $1,000 “Upperclassmen Scholarships” are reserved for students entering their second, third, or fourth year of college, or who are enrolled in a graduate program - one from each Iowa Corn District Field Manager territory. Scholarships are for one year and previous winners may reapply. Scholarships may be used to offset tuition, school supplies, or student housing. Funds will be issued on behalf of each student to his or her college financial aid department in August 2022 but entering freshman must successfully complete the first college term and those funds will be applied to second term expenses. Scholarships are awarded for the 2022-2023 school year. Only online applications will be accepted.
Iowa Credit Union Foundation Warren A. Morrow Memorial Scholarship (Due February 3, 2024) Is now open to Iowa credit union members who are high school seniors or post-secondary students. Designated for individuals entering or attending an accredited undergraduate, graduate or vocational program in 2021. Essays must be original work of the applicant and it limited to 500 words.
Iowa Dental Scholarship (Due March 31, 2024)Scholarships may be awarded in the following areas of study: Dentistry, Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene, Dental Laboratory Technician. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of character and financial need of the applicant and will be awarded without regard to race, creed, color, sex, national origin, or physical handicap.
Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship (Due January 31, 2024) Eligibility for the IFBF and County Farm Bureau scholarships are reserved for current Iowa Farm Bureau members or their children in good standing with the organization. To be considered, the graduating high school senior must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, be involved in extra-curricular activities and accepted into an accredited higher education institution, including community colleges and technical schools.
Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement IFAA (Due April 1, 2024) The applicant should have a strong agricultural background involving 4-H and/or FFA and demonstrate leadership abilities while being involved in activities. Applicant must be an incoming freshman in the fall of 2022 at any Iowa community college, college or university.
Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarships (Open December 1, 2023 - Due March 1, 2024) Iowa 4-H members are eligible to apply for 4-H scholarships if they meet individual scholarship requirements (i.e. designated college and/or major program of study, county of residence, 4-H event participation, etc.) Applicants must enroll as a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours) to receive scholarship awards. Only ONE application form is needed for all Iowa 4-H scholarships. Eligible Iowa 4-H youth may apply for more than one scholarship, however, only one scholarship per individual will be awarded per academic year. To be eligible for any of the Iowa 4-H Foundation Scholarships 2 letters of recommendation are required - one from an Extension staff member or 4-H volunteer and one from a school/college academic advisor or teacher.
Iowa Girls' Athletic Coaches Association Scholarships (Postmarked April 10, 2023) The Iowa Girls' Coaches Association offers three scholarships. The Iowa Girl who receives this scholarship must meet all listed criteria: Be enrolled in a public or private Iowa High School. Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) and verified by a high school principal or counselor. The athlete must have lettered in at least one sport offered by the IGCA.
IHCA Foundation High School Scholarship (Due May 31,2023) Applicant must be a high school senior, who are in their senior year during the 2020-2021 academic year, and a resident of Iowa. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in a college with an accredited CNA, LPN, RN or BSN program in Iowa, with the intent of working toward pre-requisites or required courses for that program in the 2021-2022 academic year. Scholarships are for the 2021-22 academic year; therefore, applicants must be taking classes during these semesters. This is a one-year scholarship that covers the cost of the course/program up to $1,000. Submit a complete application form, including 300-word essay, acceptance letter or transcript and one letter of recommendation.
Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF) (Due February 29, 2024)The Iowa Hospital Association, through subsidiary the Iowa Hospital Education and Research Foundation (IHERF), will award 60 health care scholarships of up to $7,000 ($3,500 per year for up to two years) and $1,000 specific to emergency medical technology/technician certification programs. The goal of IHERF’s scholarship program is to fill Iowa health care positions that have a notable number of openings by offering financial support for health care education or training. In exchange, each $3,500 award recipient must work one year in an Iowa hospital for each year of the scholarship award and $1,000 award recipients must work one year with hospital-based or hospital-contracted emergency medical services. Applicants must submit their information on IHERF’s scholarship website, https://iherfscholarship.smapply.io. The site will confirm scholarship eligibility before the application process begins. IHA is a voluntary membership organization representing hospital and health system interests to business, government and consumer audiences. All of Iowa’s 118 community hospitals are IHA members. Iowa PGA Section Foundation Scholarship (Due June 18, 2023) Any graduating high school senior or previous graduate residing within the boundaries of the Iowa PGA Section and the State of Iowa is eligible to apply. Scholarship winners are selected on the basis of their interest and activity in golf, the potential for future contributions to the game, leadership skills/community involvement, then on their academic/professional ability and financial need.
Iowa Scholarship for the Arts (Due April 1, 2024) Applicants must be outstanding Iowa high school seniors who excel and demonstrate a commitment to pursuing an education and career in the arts. Iowa School Counselor Association (Due January 19, 2024) For 12th grade students attending a high school in Iowa. Applicants must submit a 250 word (maximum) essay about a school counselor who made a difference during their K-12 career.
ISL Education Lending Scholarship (Due November 30,2023)To be eligible, you must be an Iowa resident and either: An Iowa high school student (ninth–12th grade). An undergraduate college student (freshman–senior). A parent or guardian of, or another adult who holds a College Savings Iowa account to benefit, an Iowa high school student or an undergraduate college student.
Iowa State Rifle & Pistol Assn. (ISRPA)(Postmarked by March 1, 2024) The Iowa State Rifle & Pistol Assn. (ISRPA) offers 2-$1000 one-year scholarships on the basis of merit to selected high school seniors who are currently enrolled in a team or club that is participating in Rifle - Pistol - Air Rifle or Shotgun competitions. The ISRPA seeks applications from high school seniors who currently compete in marksmanship competitions. ISRPA Scholarships may be used to pursue a post-secondary education during the upcoming school year. Scholarships are one-year awards that may be used to fund any accredited post-secondary education or vocational program. Scholarship recipients must have a 3.0 GPA, plan to continue to excel in rifle - air rifle - pistol - or shotgun team activities, and continue to meet other scholarship eligibility criteria. Scholarship checks are paid jointly to the scholarship recipient and the financial aid office of the college or university where the student is enrolled. High School Seniors selected for these scholarships must be a U.S. Citizen. Be of good moral character. Have achieved a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Be a graduating high school senior. Demonstrates acceptance to a university, college or trade school leading to a diploma or trade certification. Demonstrate Rifle-Air Rifle-Pistol-Shotgun marksmanship competition experience.
Iowa United Methodist Foundation (Due March 1, 2024) The Iowa United Methodist Foundation offers thousands of dollars in scholarships every year to students who demonstrate academic and community excellence. All applications and required documents, such as essays, references, and transcripts can be submitted through the online portal.
Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant (July 1: FAFSA application deadline) Eligibility Criteria: Iowa resident. Enrolled in at least 3 credit hours in a qualified program of study (of at least a 15-week duration). Enrolled at an Iowa community college. Must demonstrate financial need, and have an eligible Expected Family Contribution (EFC) on the FAFSA of 201 - 6,000 in the 2023-24 academic year.
James Horan Arc of Jefferson and Nearby Counties Scholarship (Due March 23, 2022) The Arc of Jefferson & Nearby Counties is offering a $1000 scholarship to be awarded to a high school senior who plans on entering a post high school education, training, or certification related to helping individuals with disabilities at an accredited institution. Examples included but are not limited to social work, special education, psychiatric nursing, speech or occupational therapy, and para-educators. The application must show verification that they have been accepted by the post-secondary institution.
JOHN W. & KIMBERLY D. GRUBB RN SCHOLARSHIP At the time of application and at the time scholarships are awarded, the applicant must work for an IHCA member nursing facility, assisted living program, residential care facility, home health agency, home care provider or independent senior living community. Applicants must be enrolled or accepted in an accredited school of nursing RN degree program. Scholarships are for the 2021-22 and 2022-2023 academic years; therefore, applicants must be taking classes during these semesters. This is a two-year scholarship that covers the cost of the course/program up to $3,000, each year, for a total $6,000 available per recipient. Submit a complete application form, including 500-word essay, acceptance letter or transcript and two letters of recommendation.
Karsyn's Krusaders/Jessica Miller Memorial Cancer Scholarship To be eligible for a Karsyn’s Krusaders Scholarship, one must have had a diagnosis of cancer before the age of 18 and have been treated for a pediatric form of cancer. OR Be a sibling (including biological, half-blood or step-sibling) of a person who was diagnosed with a pediatric form of cancer. Applicant is between the ages of 16 and 23 and is either a high school senior OR not out of high school more than 4 years. Applicant is accepted to an accredited university, graduate school, community college, vocational technical school or other accredited facility. Applicant is enrolled (or plans to enroll) full-time or half-time in an accredited facility.

LULAC Scholarship The LULAC Council 377 will be awarding six scholarships to students in southeast Iowa. The scholarships are to aid students with the cost of higher education which is constantly on the rise, making financing a college degree extremely difficult for many families. Applicants are eligible for the following three types of scholarship awards. National Scholastic Achievement Awards ($2,000). GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. Honors Awards ($500 to $2,000). GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale or equivalent. General Awards ($250 to $1,000). P.E.O. Chapter AB (Due April 15, 2024) This award will be given to a Van Buren County Community School senior female student that plans to further her education. This student needs to live in Harrisburg, Cedar, Bonaparte or Washington Township in Van Buren County. Students need to fill out a one-page description of future career plans and an explanation of why the student would be a good candidate for this scholarship. Blue Scholarship (Due May 10, 2024) Applicants must be an Iowa resident planning to attend an in-state college or university during the upcoming school year and not previously been a Robert D. Russell Strait Post #483 Scholarship (Due May 1, 2024 -Return to Ms. Thomas in the Library) As per donors’ wishes, applicant, or veteran relative, must currently reside in the Cantril /Milton area, or as approved by the Russell Strait Post #483. Applicant must be enrolled, or plan to enroll, in an accredited community college, university, or technical school. Awards will be forwarded to the applicant’s school of choice. A Letter of Acceptance from the school must be enclosed with the application. Submission of GPA is NOT necessary. Proof of service-connection, such as a DD214 or Discharge letter, for qualifying veteran will be made available upon request. Application must be supported by listing two or more, non-related, references. One reference must be the applicant’s high school principal. Amount of award will be announced prior to graduation. The amount will depend on the number of eligible applicants, and the amount of money available for distribution.

Sinclair Tractor-John Deere Tech Program Sinclair Tractor is pleased to offer local students and individuals who wish to pursue a career as a John Deere Certified Technician the opportunity to do so knowing they will have a full-time job waiting for them when they graduate. Southeast Iowa Draft Horse and Mule Association Scholarship $250.00 (Postmarked June 5, 2024) Applicant must reside in one of the following SE Iowa counties Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Keokuk, Lee, Louisa, Muscatine, Van Buren Wapello or Washington and be a 2024 high school graduating senior. Applicant must have experience with horses and tie their experience to their essay. You will need to send us your high school transcript with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 to be eligible for this scholarship. The scholarship will be paid in August as soon as you have provided your college information. Scholarship can be used to attend the college/university or trade school of your choice. The scholarship money will be sent directly to your college/university’s financial office. You will need to provide the committee with your institution’s financial aid office address and your account number. In December, at the end of the fall semester it is required that you send a report with your fall college transcripts along with a letter of thanks and how this scholarship has impacted you.

Susan Presley Arc of Jefferson and Nearby Counties Scholarship (Due March 23, 2022) The Arc of Jefferson & Nearby Counties is offering a $1000 scholarship to be awarded to a high school senior with an IEP or 504 Plan to enable them to pursue a post-secondary education at an accredited institution. A letter from the high school guidance counselor identifying the student has an IEP or 504 Plan must accompany this application before consideration will be given to the applicant. This scholarship may be applied toward a community college, university, or training program, including out-of-pocket expenses for the program. The application must show verification that they have been accepted by the post-secondary institution.
T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® Iowa Application deadlines are as follow: July 15- fall term, November 15- spring term, April 30- summer term. Work in a regulated preschool, child care center or home program for at least 30 hours per week (or all the hours your preschool offers programming with a 20 hour minimum). Have worked with children birth to age 5 in current program for at least 3 months (6 months for bachelor scholarships). Are working toward an early childhood degree, CDA credential (or renewal), endorsement, or teacher licensure renewal at an Iowa college. Have the support of your employer (if applicable). Timberline Scholarship (Due January 16, 2024) The student must be on or have been on an IEP during their Secondary education. The student must be graduating in the school year of the award (December or May). The student must be attending a school district which contracts with Timberline Billing Service, LLC for their Medicaid claiming as of January 15th in the school year of the application. The student should confirm with their district administrator that their district contracts with Timberline Billing Service LLC. The student must have applied to an educational institution for the following school year. This could be a four year private/public school, community college, trade school, or other formal educational program beyond high school.

Leaders of Tomorrow Scholarship is a progressive scholarship awarded to a stand out individual, with close community ties and who is following a course of study in business or a related field. This is the second year of this progressive scholarship program. It is aimed at assisting the cultivation of individuals who may someday return to Van Buren County or surrounding areas and enrich the local community and economy.
Robert Hornbaker Scholarship Must be a 2021 Van Buren Co. Community High School. No preference for junior college, training at college or university. Not based on academic rank. Must be a county resident. Student will receive funds in the following manner; $1,000.00 1st year, $1,500.00 2nd year, $2,000.00 3rd year and $2,500.00 4th year. No monies will be awarded the 3rd and 4th year if student attends a 2 year program.
Verna Olson Scholarship $1,000.00 -2021 Graduate of the Van Buren High School Preference may be given to students attending an accredited academic institution over those students attending trade or business schools.
Van Buren Presbyterian Scholarship (Due April 15, 2024-Return to Ms. Thomas in the Library) The student who receives this scholarship should be active in school, church and community activities and should indicate these on this application form. The student’s grade point average and class rank should indicate their ability to successfully handle college work. This scholarship may be used for junior college or for four year colleges.
Villages Folk School Art Scholarship (Due May 3, 2024-Return to Ms. Thomas in the Library) VBHS senior displaying a passion for arts. VBHS senior actively producing/performing arts. Financial need. Continuing their education in the field of arts, be it visual arts, performing arts, traditional or folk arts, or a fine craft.

Bright Scholars of Iowa Award - Recipients will be selected by Indian Hills Community College Foundation Office based on the following criteria: Each award will be awarded to current seniors attending an Iowa High School. Recipients must demonstrate outstanding academic achievement (such as being in the top 10% of their high school graduating class or have an ACT score of 28 or higher or a high school cumulative GPA of 3.7 or higher). Qualify for full or partial Pell Grant or have an EFC of less than $10,000. Maintain full-time enrollment. Preference but not limited to students who are first-generation college students. Applicants who meet these criteria will be asked to write an essay identifying their commitment to learning and community service and describing how they have succeeded in the face of adversity (no more than two typewritten pages). They will also be asked to submit a summary of their activities and organization, leadership roles, academic achievement and honors, community service and volunteerism, and potentials in chosen career and employment (no more than two typewritten pages).
Christina Hixson Opportunity Scholarship (Due January 15, 2024) Applicant must demonstrate financial need as determined by filing the FAFSA. In order to be considered for the Hixson Award, your FAFSA must be verified as complete when application review begins (approximately Jan 2). A delay in meeting the deadlines below will affect your eligibility for the Hixson Award. Complete the following by the suggested deadlines: File federal income taxes by February 14. File FAFSA by Dec 1 (Iowa State University deadline). Select IRS data porting option when filing FAFSA. Review and correct your Student Aid Report (SAR) promptly when returned from FAFSA or review the FAFSA status page at accessplus.iastate.edu. If selected for further verification, it is your responsibility to complete the process in time for application review (approximately Jan 2). Applicant must have faced challenges of personal and/or financial hardship and demonstrate this information in the student essay, recommendation and FAFSA. Applicant must be a resident of Iowa. Applicant must be admissible to Iowa State University. Applicant must possess the potential to succeed. This scholarship is available to high school seniors graduating in 2022 who will be entering first-year students at Iowa State University in Fall 2022. This program will provide 100 undergraduates with half-tuition scholarships (estimated value of more than $18,000 over eight semesters). Selection is based on the student's county, eligibility and potential as demonstrated through the application, letter of recommendation, and financial need analysis. Students may major in any curriculum and must maintain a 2.00 cumulative grade point average for renewal.

College of Engineering (Due February 8, 2024) Students must have been offered admission to Iowa State University.These Scholarships are stackable with financial awards a student may potentially receive through Office Admissions. Scholarship eligibility for incoming first year students are based on a high school GPA of 3.6 or higher.
Multicultural Vision Program Scholarship (Due January 10, 2023) To meet eligibility requirements for MVP, prospective students must: Be a resident of the state of Iowa, and a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Be admissible to Iowa State University. American Indian or Alaskan Native, Black/African American, Asian American, Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander, Hispanic or Latinx, or Multiracial on the application for undergraduate admission; or who have participated in a federally funded Educational Talent Search or Upward Bound program. Demonstrate financial need based on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Have faced personal and/or financial challenges or hardships.
Tom Arnold Scholarship (Due April 1, 2024) Indian Hills alumnus Tom Arnold awards two scholarships to Indian Hills students each year. The scholarships award tuition, fees, required books, and required supply costs for one year (three terms). In addition, if the winners are students residing in the dormitories, an average of room and board costs will be included as part of the scholarship award.To be eligible for the scholarships, you must compose a brief written piece (600-1,200 words) on this year's subject theme.
Bright Scholars of Iowa Indian Hills Annual award established by the late H. Dale & Lois Bright awarded to current seniors attending Iowa high schools. Indian Hills Community College has received a National Science Foundation grant for almost $1 million. This grant will allow IHCC to provide GO STEM scholarships for up to $10,000 per year for the next 6 years. The scholarships will be for students who pursue degrees in the following programs:

Catherine McCauley Scholarship The Catherine McAuley Scholarship provides free tuition to Iowa students whose family income is $50,000 or less annually. These Scholarships are renewable for up to four years, and students are automatically considered upon admittance to Mount Mercy. To be eligible, students simply need to: Be an Iowa resident and graduate from an Iowa high school. Be admitted as a new freshman to Mount Mercy. Reside all four years on Mount Mercy’s campus during the academic year. Participate in Mount Mercy’s College Success Program during their first year on campus. File the FAFSA prior to July 1(first year) and May 1(subsequent years) that shows family income of $50,000 or less and Pell Grant eligibility.

Southeastern Community College
ASOON Scholarship The ASOON (American Society of Old Nurses) Scholarship was established by six alumni who formed a lifetime friendship after their student days in the University of Iowa College of Nursing. The spouses of the deceased alumni and other members of the original group continue to support the fund. The scholarship criteria are: a pre-licensure BSN student enrolled in nursing major courses who demonstrates financial need (FAFSA required), academic merit, professional promise and leadership skills. If there are sufficient funds, the intent of the donors is to support students for two semesters at the level of in-state tuition and fees.
The Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship (Due MARCH 1, 2024) Each recipient of the Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship must be: of the Protestant faith, a resident of the State of Iowa, and a full-time student at the University of Iowa. At least one of the recipients must be a member of an Episcopal Church, and at least one must be a young man who shows interest in and promise for a career in banking. All recipients must be of good character and have a good scholastic record.
Thomas H. Macbride Leadership Scholarship (Due July 31, 2024) The Thomas H. Macbride Leadership Scholarship is awarded to outstanding high school seniors who have demonstrated an ability to excel in academics, extra-curricular activities, and human service. The scholarship is available to any male, graduating senior who attends The University of Iowa. The scholarship is awarded by the Alumni of ACACIA Fraternity. Demonstrated financial need is not a criterion. The applications must be sent no later than July 31st. Shortly after this date, all applications received will be reviewed. A total value up to $10,000 can be awarded per year, with a minimum value of $250 and a maximum value of $3000. All scholarships will be awarded during the fall semester.

The H. Dale and Lois Bright Foundation (Due February 1, 2024) provides the Bright Scholars of Iowa award. It is available to entering freshmen who will graduate from an Iowa high school and demonstrate financial need. Preference is given to students whose parents have not graduated from an accredited four-year college or university. The amount of the scholarship is equal to the cost of attendance less all other gift aid (including Pell Grants, institutional grants and scholarships, and private scholarships). The cost of attendance is equal to tuition & fees, room & board, books, transportation, and personal expenses. This award is renewable for an additional three years provided the student maintains a 2.50 cumulative GPA, and continuous full-time enrollment. Funds for the scholarship are provided by the Bright Foundation. The Bright Foundation also provides additional communication and experiences for recipients, such as peer connections and networking, to enhance the college experience and help scholars reach their goals. Recipients are expected to provide the Bright Foundation regular updates on their college experience through their Bright Scholar portal.
